Scholarships for Seminary



Janice Singleton Scholarship

  • Honors BWMU Executive Director-Treasurer, 1939-1963.  At least one scholarship awarded annually.

Lillian D. Gerrard Memorial Scholarship

  • Established by her family to honor a lifelong WMU member and supporter.  At least one scholarship awarded annually.

General Scholarship

  • Awarded from gifts given to Georgia WMU & WEM from women involved in WMU in Georgia Baptist churches.  At least one scholarship awarded annually.

Dorothy Pryor Scholarship

  • Honors BWMU Executive Director-Treasurer, 1963-1991.  At least one scholarship is awarded annually.  Recipients are women living in Georgia who attend the McAfee School of Theology.

Requirements for Seminary Scholarships:

  • Eligible recipients are women residing in Georgia, or daughters of Southern Baptist missionaries from Georgia, who attend Baptist seminaries.
  • Acceptance by seminary.
  • Awards of scholarship are based on evidence of need; appreciation for WMU; academic ability; character; commitment to Christian service; and references.
  • Download a seminary scholarship application; deadline is March 1 (notification by June 1).
  • Scholarships are granted up to $600 annually for not more than three years.
