Literacy Missions Is...

a ministry involving Georgia Baptist churches, Associations, and others who desire to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through ministering to those with literacy needs in one or more of the following ways:


1. Adult Reading Writing (ARW)
This ministry involves tutoring adults who are either illiterate, functioning non-readers, or those who are seeking to pass the "General Educational Development" (GED) test.



2. English as a Second Language (ESL)
This ministry involves teaching foreign-born adults currently residing in Georgia who want to learn conversational English.



3. Tutoring Children & Youth (TCY)
This ministry involves tutoring children and/or youth needing help with their schoolwork to enable them to succeed at and remain in school until they graduate.



4. Alfalit (ALF)
This ministry involves teaching illiterate Spanish- speakers how to read & write in Spanish so they will be able to read God's word.



5. Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
This ministry involves teaching conversational English during short-term mission trips abroad.
 

6. Citizenship (CIT)
Helping qualified ARW and ESL students become U.S. citizens.
